Foundation Activities
The challenge
The Paradigm Foundation kicked off its fundraising efforts with a matching gifts challenge. Every donation up to a total of $100k was matched dollar-for-dollar, enabling the Foundation to give $200k to first-responder organizations in our community.
Due to the generous donations of many contributors, the Paradigm Foundation has been able to help fund meaningful projects with many local agencies:
UW Emergency Care and Trauma Symposium
A donation of $10,000 to the UW Emergency Care and Trauma Symposium will be used for the purchase of “Go Bags” containing first aid tools and supplies for trauma nurses and EMTs.
Many who will attend the symposium are volunteers and would otherwise have to purchase these items on their own.
Dane County Sheriff's Office
Pending formal approval from the Dane County Board, a donation of $104,000 to the Dane County Sheriff’s Office will go toward the purchase of additional protective equipment and first aid kits that are not fully funded by the County’s budget.

Middleton Police Department
The Paradigm Foundation has contributed $45,000 towards the purchase and training of a new K9 unit.
Officer Howard Statz and K9 Szeci have completed a 6-week training program and will be on patrol and attending community events very soon!
Middleton Fire District
Middleton firefighters received an $18,890 contribution toward safety and rescue gear purchases, including active shooter kits (containing vests & helmets), rails for helmet lights, flashlights, litters, tourniquets, patches and a repeater radio system.

Middleton Emergency Medical Services
A donation of $18,500 will help the Middleton Emergency Medical Services obtain 10 ballistic vests and helmets and will provide funding for the department's first responder Peer Support Initiative.

Shorewood Hills Police Department
A donation of $2,500 will help the Shorewood Hills Police Department roll out a pilot wellness initiative designed to address the stress associated with the policing profession.
The contribution will also help fund a peer support program and the department's Critical Incident Stress Management Debriefings.

A Christmas Thank You
The Paradigm Foundation, in partnership with UW Health, sponsored an exclusive showing of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, presented by the Children’s Theater of Madison.
Tickets were offered free of charge to all of Dane County’s fire, police, EMS, and 911 Center employees and their families, to show appreciation for their commitment to keeping our communities safe and healthy throughout the year.
